SoCal Window Tinting

Any recommendations for installers in LA/Orange Counties for those of you who have tinted the windows of your Cayman? Thanks.

i had 2 bmw's tinted at promax in alhambra. looks pretty good... if you don't like it you can have them redo it (lifetime warranty). the owner, anthony, has like 7 really nice cars (ferraris, lambos, bmws, mercedes, porsche). he's a cool guy to talk to... super friendly. some of his cars are posted on his website. here's the link Promax Motorsport | WELCOME: Let the Pros take it to the MAX!

when my sis got my bmw 335i coupe tinted there couple of weeks ago he said he would charge $130 for my CS. not bad but my CS was tinted elsewhere cuz i had hookups

good luck!

Made in the Shade in the city of Cypress (on Lincoln Ave). Did my Cayman for $130. Tell him the guy in the white Porsche sent you, and he'll discount you even more than that, no joke. He's also done my cousin's 330Ci, my relative's CLS550, and my friends Nissan Rogue.

What color are you guys tinting the windows with?

I am considering something along the lines of silver with a hint of green or blue for white Carrara white CS. Don't want anything too dark just a bit of privacy guard.

Additionally are you just tinting windows or also rear windshield?

I'm thinking grey tint would look nice w/my Carrara White/Stone Grey color combo. Rear windshield and side windows, dark enough to block out some sunlight to keep the interior a bit cooler, but not too dark as to be illegal by California law.

I have an Artic Silver and am thinking about getting the windows tinted. Any thoughts on the color for the tint?

Also, has anyone had problems after the tint. On my C Class MB, the radio lost many stations because of their distance and the remote would not work further than 5 feet from the car after the tint. Sure don't want either situation to happen with the Cayman ( especially with the great quality radio I have I have in this car) :

Some of my radio stations seem to be affected by the tint, but I didn't have the car long enough before the tint to really see a compromise.

As for the color of the tint, I went with the basic shade, at 35% all around, including the front windows. Looks really good- and I think any colored shade of tint would cheapen the car. Further, tinting the front windshield IMO would cheapen the car too, needless to mention your safety.

TOTAL THUMBS DOWN on Black Diamond

TOTAL THUMBS DOWN on Black Diamond--here's why--now it's payback time.

Back in 96 I bought an Acura CL 3.0 and per dealers suggestion, used him. The fellow came out to my work to do job... Anyway, he pitched me on his lifetime warranty--and I agreed, as long as it included labor (and in writing). The front window started to peel wrinkle on the top edge in couple of years or so... I called him, and he wanted me to drive the car up to him (Valencia from Santa Monica), fine, but didn't want to cover the labor. Not fine.

His argument was that tinting the windows was illegal, and therefore, the guarantee was not in effect. Well, he's right about that in strict legal terms.

SO STEER CLEAR OF BLACK DIAMOND--unless you think the front windows shouldn't have had a warranty as promised...

P.S.Driving an Arctic Silver with Black tinting--looks sharp and interior stays cool...

I've used Phil w/ socal window tint. He uses other names : Orange County Window Tinting, L.A. Window Tinting, Beverly Hills Window Tinting. There was a problem with the tint, but he came back to make good on the repair. It took a few calls, but he finally came out.

I was stopped by the local police while taking my 2 year old daughter to Mc Donalds on Easter Sunday in my wife's Lexus 470, the reason, tinted windows.
I explained to the officer that I purchased the car from Lexus with the windows tinted, no dice I was issued a citation (fix-it ticket) for violation of VC 26708 (a) (1) states NO tinting FILM on drivers or passsengers window smoked glass OK.

I'v lived in Mammoth Lakes, CA. 22 years first time I'v ever been stopped.

There is a light tinting film on the windows, I guess I'll just have it removed.
