What a day for a Sunday drive!

Anybody else take advantage yesterday?

It had been a long week, and my wife even commented on my crankiness. So I told her Saturday evening that I was gonna disappear with the CS Sunday. The weather was in the 40s, some clouds, some sun. Roads were mainly dry, although still a very few wet/blowing snow spots, and lots of sand (boy is that annoying!)

I drove for 2 hours: Me, the car, the road. Because of conditions and distaste for expensive speeding citations, I didn't push, just enjoyed. And I say here, the improvement in my mood was at least one, if not two, orders of magnitude. I won't bore you with long descriptions of engine, chassis, steering, clutch....

But, man, I think my wife was suspicious when I got back with the huge grin on my face.

One highlight was pulling onto a road with a 65mph speed limit from a stop sign. No traffic in sight. Easy on the one-two shift, and then bury the throttle. Don't let anyone ever tell you that a Cayman is not fast. It's plenty fast.

(I posted details of a new road I found in the Colorado driving routes post of Automotive off-topic.)

More Sunday driving

I too got the "right foot itch" on Sunday. Too bad it wasn't as nice as Saturday was. I went east from Fort Collins on Harmony Road until I hit US85, then north to Cheyenne, west to I-25, then back south home. It's a good route to avoid most of the sand and other s#!t on the roads. Plus there are some wide open spaces just south of the WY border with plenty of visibility fore and aft to let it loose for a bit. After a quick once-over with the detailer spray and a microfiber cloth, the CS is back in its "pajamas" (car cover) in the garage.

Oh, and my wife is out-of-town, so she didn't notice that I had gotten cranky.
